Saturday Evening at Ascent Village Pavilion Park

Saturday evening at Ascent Village Pavilion Park was one for the books. Waiting For A Name played from 6 to 8, but the day really kicked off much earlier. We rolled in at 3:30 for load-in, got set up with Equalized Productions handling the audio, and had everything dialed in by sound check at 4:30. From the first test note, we could tell it was going to be a good one.

The park started to fill around 5:15, with families rolling out blankets and kids already running wild before we hit a single chord. Food trucks lined the edge of the lawn with solid options across the board.

Uptown & Humboldt brought in some crazy burger and sandwich options.  Ever had a fried PB&J?  And Chill In A Box brought the heat with dishes like chilaquiles and flautas, and the Kona Ice truck kept the younger crowd cool and sugared up. By showtime, there was hardly a patch of grass left untouched.

The set itself was a blast. Kids danced, soccer balls flew, and Shayne dodged a couple of them mid-song. If you can dodge a frisbee, you can dodge a wrench.  That's how that goes, right?!

We noticed a guy in a black cowboy hat who had settled into his chair near the front and kept perfect time by drumming on his seat through nearly every tune. That kind of quiet rhythm section in the crowd always feels like a good sign.

Equalized Productions delivered a clean, powerful mix that let us hear every detail and made it easy to lock in. The sound carried well across the lawn without being overwhelming, and the crowd responded in kind. It was one of the biggest and most enthusiastic groups we’ve played for this year.

Thanks to everyone who came out, brought a chair or a blanket, and spent part of their evening with us. We felt it, and we’re grateful. On to the next.
